Facebook

It’s MySpace for adults, networking without the working, the ultimate stalking service, a source of regular surprise and entertainment and a great way to find out what time your friends go to bed. I’d received a handful of invites to Facebook but was rather sceptical, and chose not to join until bullied into it by a couple of colleagues.

I get it now, though. Facebook allows you to build a network of existing (and new, I suppose) friends and get an idea of what they’re doing, where they are, and who their friends are. Sure, these things can be done in other ways – postcards, emails, telephone calls or pints – but the site is particularly good at finding those you lost touch with for no particular reason. The Guardian’s started using big words about it. Plus it’s interesting to spot those who you knew but have no desire to keep in touch with.

So I’m in for now. Signup, have a look, maybe be my friend…

I’ve definitely found Facebook to be a really useful, and fun website. It certainly brings out the voyeur I didn’t know exsited within me.

That said, it is a real pain the backside when you start getting ‘friend’ requests from people you don’t know, like or ever want to speak to.

Have fun back at the office mate.
