365: Odd socks
Like a yo yo I’m tugged back to that peculiar mix of Western, Middle Eastern and bloody annoying: Kuwait.
Travel is particularly disheartening if it involves a shuttle from airport to office to inside-facing hotel room. Is there a world out there? Hello?
365: Sort it out!
This idea of taking a photo a day is all very good, but get more than a few days behind and it all starts getting messy. Very messy.
365: My new obsession
Is with how hotel cleaning staff choose to rearrange anything left out around the sink. Use of the flannel here is pretty standard but nice that the items have been grouped by brand. More of these photos to come, doubtless.
As one can see I popped into duty free and upped my metrosexual rating by a power of four.
365: You may use your mobile phone onboard
Is it the future? Probably, but I’ll miss the isolation of flight. This is one of Royal Jordanian’s new A320 aircraft equipped with (I think) AirGo, which means one can send and receive calls whilst in the air. The plane was absolutely new, a couple of days in service I think, and thankfully the ‘turn off phone’ light remained lit for the whole journey to amman. Ha!
Operators have a choice between data, or data and voice. Guess which one Ryanair’s opted for?
365: From a distance
I’m fading to black. This is it. Life on the road continues.
365: Compression
Tonight, having to fly away on a Saturday night and lose another weekend to work, life felt a bit like this. Board:hop:deboard.
(From the front of the inter-terminal shuttle at Heathrow T5.)
365: On Sentosa Beach
Watching the ships coming and and going out again. As a last chance to enjoy the warm air I took a monorail ride over to Sentosa Beach wearing jeans and shirt; within half an hour I’d bought mismatched shorts and t-shirt. It really was that warm.
This being Singapore, there’s no escape from commerce.
365: Orchard Road from the sunken Starbucks
And so, a stop off in Singapore on the way home to delay the prospect of a return to the office for one more day.
365: Qantas Sydney first class lounge
Farewell Sydney, but what a view for a departure. This is a lounge that brings the glamour and style back to aviation.
The departures board is pretty nifty too:
365: Night flight
An hour or two’s uncomfortable napping before touching down in Sydney.
