365: New old sofa
In contrast to the recent monster Heals purchase, here’s a complementary period find – £40 on eBay from Watford – an early 1960s Greaves and Thomas ‘put-u-up’ daybed.
365: You don’t have to leave on a red light
365: Shredded!
One drawback of asking your bank to provide all of the information it has on you, is what to do with the 10kg of paper they send back. Thankfully there’s a decent shredder in the office. That’s my financial life, right there.
365: Clapham Common
It’s a Wednesday evening, which means I’m normally to be found being beasted around Clapham Common. These few acres play a regular role in everyday life, from early morning runs to the daily trip across the cycle path. There are times when I feel I could run around it blindfolded (insert your own Ron Davies joke here).
365: Sun kissed feet
For once, a sunny and warm May bank holiday.
365: Up, up and away
Poor Kenny – first flight up in the family balloon, and it’s the scariest I’ve ever been on. Lakes, power lines, guns, it had the lot.
365: Toilet seats, over-engineered
Here’s a Middle Eastern take on the Japanese toilet: frankly too complicated to bother using, with every chance of getting hands even dirtier.
365: Aboard the A380 flight simulator
The aviation geek portion of my brain was briefly satisfied with a first flight aboard an Emirates A380. There are four on-board cameras that operate throughout the flight including takeoff and landing (advice: don’t look down). The tail view feels rather like playing on a flight simulator.
365: Taxi spotting
I didn’t even get a Creek view room this time. Pah.
365: Festival City, Dubai
Another night on the glamorous Middle Eastern travel circuit. Aside from the souk, nowhere in Dubai is ‘walkable’ – we normally stay on the island of malls and hotels that is Festival City.
