365: Pop Down is 60!
And seems to be getting taller every year.
365: Back to school
And, despite the occasional nose into work emails, I still have this to look forward to tomorrow morning. Sigh.
365: Uprooted
Christmas trees: ironic that, given this country’s ongoing antipathy to all things European (especially German), we should adopt this tradition so enthusiastically.
The sign may claim ‘no drop’ but I’m unconvinced you’d get your money back, even if f you could find the man in the van on December 24th.
365: DSLR CCTV
http://www.vimeo.com/7824962A couple of days of full leisure time in London have allowed me to pick up on a couple of things I’ve had on my to-do list. Here, for example, is a first play with time lapse photography using my SLR camera and an interval timer. There are 900+ photos making up this one minute video. There’s potential here, I think (particularly like seeing the aircraft turn right and line up for Heathrow)
Home
And so, after a brief East African experience, time to strap myself into my World Traveller Plus seat and return to London.
A few other photos from the Tanzania trip in this set. Do take a look.
The view from…
…the men’s squat toilet, Stonetown Port. Back across the bumpy, torrentially wet sea to Dar es Salaam, and home.
Dolphins (trust me)
Another day out on the waters north of Zanzibar, for a coupe of great dives spotting turtle, multiple well camouflaged fish and fat starfish. And I wasn’t the heaviest breather there (must be that rescue diver training, ha) which is always a relief. Competitive breathing. What’s next?
That was a small pod of dolphins in the distance. They knew better than to come and play today
Sunday school
Or rather, Saturday school. Do Zanzibari Muslims have religious education on a Saturday? I get confused.
Heading north to Nungwi.
Friday afternoon diving in Stonetown
If I wasn’t by myself and carrying a camera, I’d have almost been willing to join the queue and jump in myself. A great way to spend the Friday afternoon, and a popular spectator sport. A little video of their achievements below.
Gladiator versus Mr Bean
Off for a morning’s diving on the west coast of Zanzibar, where the water was perfectly warm and the coral gardens some of the best I’ve seen – on a par with the Red Sea and Great Barrier Reef.
Boat naming in Stonetown seems to have been determined by the ‘top’ TV and movie entertainment of the year 2000.
